“Every authentic painting
demonstrates a collaboration.”
— John Berger
Process
The process starts with a first consultation either in person, in writing, or via a phone or video call, to discuss your vision and preferences. From there, I will guide you through a sitting to sketch, reference, and refine compositional details. A contract is then signed and a deposit paid, after which the work can begin.
I generally ask for 3-5 sittings for a portrait painted entirely from life, depending on the size of the artwork and the chosen medium. I would be happy to travel within Europe to your home or institution, where the sittings may take place (travel costs are the responsibility of the commissioner). However, should the opportunities of working from life be limited, I am open to working from photographic references.
Once the artwork is complete, you will receive the signed original piece, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Each portrait being crafted with the highest quality archival materials, you will also receive a comprehensive technical certificate for conservation purposes. Costs of packaging and shipping within Sweden are included in the fee.
Commissioned portraiture starts at SEK 5 000 (£ 390), subject to the artwork’s size and medium. To inquire about commissioning a portrait or to discuss your ideas, please reach out via the button below.
